Reducing our environmental footprint
We aim to continuously explore ways to reduce our impact on the environment, through more sustainable practices across our operations. From lowering our outputs, to better conserving resources and managing waste responsibly, our initiatives help further safeguard our shared home – planet Earth.
Our Progress
Journey Beyond Rail
Minimise electricity consumption by storing all food in one cool room for the week, ensuring fresh produce and less space required for storage. Removed all single use plastic bottles from on train – each guest provided canister water bottles that can be filtered filled from carriage refreshment station. Recycling of coffee pods, all cardboards, Left over food is donated to Oz Harvest after each train journey (fresh produce and bread).
Sal Salis
Almost 100% of the camp’s power is generated by the sun through an array of solar panels to ensure a predominantly clean source of energy and preserve the peace and quiet of this pristine area. Each en-suite bathroom has a natureloo (these very effective composting toilets are transported off-site to be cleaned) and the grey water from the showers and hand basins is carefully managed to ensure only filtered water is dispensed back into the ground.
Cruise Whitsundays
